Amazon will come up with a new feature - start selling airline tickets

Amazon India can start selling airline tickets soon. It will also give the option of ordering food to the users. In this way, the company has planned to help users with more transactions from their platform.

Sources said that the company is now dealing with travel portal ClearTrip and is planning a flight booking on its app. This is a major change for the e-commerce company. It now wants to become an all-in-one app, so that users can make different types of deals. The informed sources told the company's plan that further it will also offer options like food, cab and hotel booking.

One source said, "The company will connect third-party market leaders of their respective segments to the application." This is called API integration. In this, internet companies connect their interfaces with the back-end of other companies and they can share information with each other.

In India Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Paytm and Phonepay have a large distribution platform and they want to give their customer base services ranging from mobile phone recharge to flight tickets and grocery. Amazon has a customer base of 15 million users. All of these users do not make regular purchases from their platform. The number of monthly and unique customers of Amazon and Flipkart is 2-2.5 million.

Last year, In order to increase such deals, Amazon India had purchased the startup Tapzo - a Sequoia Capital investment, which offers many app based services - Uber, Ola, Swiggy, Zomato, Bookmyshow, BillDesk  on one app. However, both companies have never confirmed this deal. Tapzo is probably helping to integrate Amazon's third-party app. E-commerce company first added features such as recharge and bill payments in their app. When asked to amazon, an Amazon spokesman said that the company does not respond to future plans. Even Cleartrip did not answer ET's questions.

Neil Shah, Research Director, Counterpoint Research, said, E-commerce is no longer a limited area to sell stuff. A large number of customers are demanding services. Amazon knows what people are buying, but they do not know about their offline consumption. From this step, amazon will get data regarding consumption. Another official said that the company is increasing its capacity in the region with Amazon Pay.
